HAL-CON 2016:

Hal-Con 2016 was a roaring success for: Evan, Alex and Jeff of the DuneWorld. Over the three days of the show hundreds must have played our “Over My Dead Body (For you)” demo and we received a lot of useful feedback as well as praise

As you might notice if you’re a Nova Scotia native, Hal-Con has grown at an astonishing rate. There were more people there than we expected but thankfully for the attendees there was a lot to do. There was a lot of tabletop gaming on our floor and even a VR station that we shared many players with.

But ultimately it was a very enjoyable and educational experience. It was a blast meeting up with those who have already played the game in previous incarnations and seeing how they felt about some of it’s changes and improvements.

We hope to come back in the future with what we’ve learned and have an even more fantastic experience for fans and newcomers alike.

DuneWorld Games Inc. is proud to announce that we’re going to be at Hal-Con 2016 this upcoming weekend. That’s right, from November 4th to the 6th we’ll be at one of the East coast’s largest comics and sci-fi convention at the World Trade & Convention Centre, and The Scotia Bank Centre in Halifax, NS.

Drop by the gaming floor if you want to chat us up and try out some recent game builds. We’re right between Aaron Hannam and the Deck Box. And just a stone stroll away from Extra Life and Magic the Gathering players.

You can find a more detailed map of the conventions here.

We hope to see you this weekend.

“If anybody knows how many of them there are or what they do in the sub-basement they’re not talking. But they give everyone the creeps. After they showed up our chemical G consumption has increased ten fold and our interns have been disappearing without a trace. We all know that’s not a coincidence.”

Check out the DuneWorld’s own Michael Easton’s latest Android game “Blastabout.”

“Blastabout is an addictive arcade game that will have you blasting around the screen in an exciting skyward adventure.Your goal is to launch from ring to ring, collecting diamonds and avoiding dangerous obstacles along the way. It will be easy at first, but as you get higher, your skills will be thoroughly tested.-Simple controls will make it easy for you to BLAST from one ring to the next with only one touch.”

We (Just Alex really) went to haunt the local Halifax Game Collective to demo the first few levels much like we did at DCAF. The testers this time around were fellow game devs that are more familiar with us and our game so the testing was more focused. Some minor tweaks were made prior to this, but we got some extra feedback and some interesting suggestions.

At DCAF most people were various age groups and different degrees of casual/hardcore or even those who haven’t played video games at all. It was a definitely a broader stroke of testing. But overall it seems like a good idea to contrast random people playtesting with familiar people playtesting. Both groups have pointed out some of the design flaws and bugs and with their input it will help us make a better game. We’d like to thank HGC for being awesome and we’ll be playtesting with them more down the line as we get closer and closer to release.

Some footage of: Jeff, Evan, and Alex’s appearance at DCAF. The weather wasn’t the greatest but the festival was amazing. Lots of much appreciated feedback from players old and new alike.

Can’t wait for next year’s festival!

Some photographs from the DuneWorld’s appearance at the Dartmouth Comic Arts Festival on Sunday.

Jeff, Evan, and Alex showed off the latest build of “Over My Dead Body (For You)” to great success and very much appreciated the response from players.

Another heads up that: Evan, Alex, and Jeff will be at the Dartmouth Comic Arts Festival tomorrow.
We’re going to be at Table 42, right next to the popular Podcast group “Geeks Vs. Nerds.” It’s also where we were last year, ain’t that convenient?

“Over My Dead Body (For You)” has officially been greenlit by the Steam Community, and will have a home there.

We are so thankful for all of the support. From everyone whose been playing our prototypes from the beginning to those who have only stumbled upon us thanks to the Greenlight vote. We really appreciate it.

We’ll be keeping things as up to date as possible both here and on our twitter so stick around for more OMDBFY goodness.

Once again, a big thanks for all of your support.

In our first installment of “OMDB Improvements (For You)” Alex discusses upgraded character movement.

Check out, and vote for OMDBFY on Steam Greenlight:

“The J93-30 (Also known as “Mortimer”) was initially designed for use in the mining industry. Mass produced at a grand scale he was initially seen as a commercial failure due to faulty gas sensors along with poor cyber security features.

However he would be vindicated by the Military and Security sectors due to its advanced search and rescue protocols as well as his easily weaponized drill.

You will see many J93-30s on patrol in any of Mortiga Consolidated’s many facilities. Don’t be afraid though, when not in active pursuit Mortimer is as friendly of a robot as they come.

You see, we here at Mortiga don’t make mistakes. We just have happy accidents.”
